Clearwater International advises Suez on the disposal of its environmental quality monitoring activity in the UK to Normec

Clearwater International has advised Suez, a French multinational water and waste management company, on the carve out of its environmental quality monitoring (EQM) activity in the UK, encompassing DETS and Latis Scientific (Latis), to Normec, a leading provider of testing, inspection, and certification and compliance (TICC) services headquartered in the Netherlands and supported by Astorg, a leading independent private equity firm.

The DETS and Latis laboratories offer accredited analytical services for a variety of environmental tests, including organic and inorganic chemical testing and microbiology testing of water, soil, and waste, alongside UK-wide consultancy activity. With a substantial market share in the UK environmental testing market, the acquisition of EQM by Normec solidifies its UK position and strengthens its role as a pan-European leader in the TICC sector.

Under the leadership of Kirk Bridgewood, the DETS and Latis management team will continue to drive UK growth under the Normec umbrella. The decision to proceed with this transaction is mutually beneficial, as both parties share a commitment to high customer service levels and quality.
