Clearwater International advises ATP Farma on the sale of a majority stake to Plameca

Clearwater International has advised ATP Farma (Adenosin Trifosfato P Farma, S.L.), a leading consumer healthcare distributor, on the sale of a majority stake to Plameca (Plantas Medicinales y Complementos Alimenticios S.A.), a Spanish nutraceutical company.

Founded in 2008 by Carlos Santafé and Jose María Serradell, ATP Farma specialises in the development and commercialisation of consumer healthcare products through five proprietary brands, the development of consumer healthcare products for third parties (CDMS Activity), in addition to the exclusive distribution of the Carmex lip-care brand in Spain and Portugal. ATP Farma mainly targets the eye-care, physiological serum, ear-protection, and lip-care segments through mass distribution, pharmacies, and beauty shop channels. All products commercialised by ATP are sourced from international manufacturers (CMOs).

Plameca, founded in 1984, is a nutraceutical laboratory specialising in the manufacturing and commercialisation of food supplements as well as medicinal plants. The company was the nutraceutical subsidiary of Suanfarma which is currently owned by the Spanish entrepreneur, Hector Ara, who founded Suanfarma.

Both companies will benefit from substantial synergies arising from the integration, creating a significant player in the Spanish consumer healthcare market.
