Clearwater Internaitonal advises Airi in the sale of two of its subsidiary companies

Clearwater International acted as financial adviser to Airi in the sale of two of its subsidiary companies, active in the Italian helicopter market, Aersud Elicotteri and Helicopters Italia, to Airbus Helicopters.

Airi is the holding company of a group active in the Italian market since the ‘60s which in 2018 reported a consolidated turnover of € 50 million. Among its subsidiaries Aersud Elicotteri represents the exclusive agent and distributor for Airbus helicopters in Italy since 1972 while Helicopters Italia is a service center and MRO (Maintenance and Repair Organization) for Airbus helicopters and Safran engines. Among the activities carried out, Helicopters Italia provides also maintenance and assistance to the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service fleet (HEMS) in Italy, Corpo Forestale, Polizia di Stato e Carabinieri and many other private operators.

Airbus Helicopters, a subsidiary of the aerospace group Airbus, is the world leading producer and distributor of helicopters, with a market share of more than 50% and which in 2018 had a turnover of € 6 billion.

In 2012 Airbus Helicopters (then known as Eurocopter SA) acquired a 25% minority stake in Aersud. With these further acquisitions Airbus has obtained full ownership of Aersud Elicotteri and Helicopters Italia with the aim of strengthening its position in the Italian market.
