Clearwater International advises Achmea on its sale of Achmea Health Centers to Fitland Group

Clearwater International has advised Achmea, one of the largest health insurance groups in the Netherlands, on the sale of its Achmea Health Centers, to Fitland Group, the largest provider of quality fitness, leisure, and wellness in the Dutch market.

Achmea is known for its brands Centraal Beheer Achmea, Interpolis, Zilveren Kruis Achmea, Avéro Achmea, FBTO, and Agis. One of the largest healthcare insurers in the Dutch market, it operates in seven European countries and employs around 18,000 staff.

Achmea Health Centers, one of the largest providers of high-quality fitness in the Netherlands, operates 31 branches with around 1,200 employees. In 2013, the company realised a turnover of €23m. It began to operate fitness centres in 2000, proceeding to become one of the leading chains in the sector.

Starting over 30 years ago, Fitland Group is a chain of fitness centres, wellness resorts, hotels, and restaurants. Including the 19 Achmea Health Centers, it now operates 42 branches. In addition, Fitland Group runs a network that consists of 150 partner branches.

After this acquisition, Fitland Group will be the largest provider of quality fitness in the Netherlands.
