Clearwater International advises Klöpfer & Königer on the sale of Klöpferholz to private shareholders
Clearwater International has advised Klöpfer & Königer Management GmbH (Klöpfer & Königer), a major timber trading company in Germany, on the sale of its business division Klöpferholz GmbH & Co. KG (Klöpferholz) including the operational real estate to existing shareholders Hermann and Florian Wendelstadt. The brothers are descendants of the fifth generation of Johann Christian Kloepfer who founded the business 150 years ago.
Klöpferholz comprises of two business divisions: wholesale and competence centres. The wholesale business concentrates on the sale and supply of timber and timber-related products to B2B customers. As a full-range supplier Klöpferholz offers sawn timber, semi-finished wood products and ready-to-assemble products as well as accessories. The competence centre division complements the wholesale business and specialises in individual products, customer groups or services in the timber trade. Headquartered in Garching, near Munich, Klöpferholz operates 27 locations in Germany, including ten warehouses and employs more than 700 people.
The acquisition by Hermann and Florian Wendelstadt creates an ownership with a clear, long-term commitment. The brothers will continuously support the expansion of Klöpferholz’s market leadership position, and the completion of its ongoing restructuring programme with a focus on procurement and logistics efficiency. Hermann and Florian Wendelstadt have a proven track record as successful and modern company leaders and will contribute their know-how and entrepreneurial experience to lead Klöpferholz into a successful future.
