I am a Partner at Clearwater International Spain and represent the Spanish and Portuguese offices on the Clearwater International Board. Operating from Madrid, I lead our Spanish industrials practice, where I specialise in B2B businesses. My focus is in the chemicals and agribusiness sub-sectors, as well as ingredients for human food, animal health and plant health. Before joining Clearwater Spain, I worked as Corporate Finance Manager at Granville Baird Investment Banking. I also held the positions of Manager for Corporate Finance in Spain, Financial Consulting Director and Manager for the valuations department at Deloitte in Madrid and London. During that time, I was involved in more than 70 Spanish and international transactions across various sectors. At Clearwater, I have led 45 transactions with a value of more than €1.2bn. These include the MBO of Secna by Corpfin, the acquisition of Nutrafur by Frutarom, the acquisition of Tecnobakery by Lesafre, the sale of Probelte Biotech to Euromed and the acquisition of MD Moldes by Alantra. For years, I have been developing and offering M&A services based on sector specialisation, as well as proactive and strategic origination of transactions to help generate value for both our financial clients (private equity funds) and industrial clients.

Karen Parkin

As HR Manager at Clearwater, I am responsible for the day-to-day running of our UK HR function, working alongside the UK COO to ensure Clearwater continues to be a great place to work. I have spent over 30 years in the finance sector and 25 of those years have been at Clearwater and I am proud to be part of such a dynamic team.

Marie Burdis

I have been a PA for over 25 years and I’m currently the PA/Office Manager at the Leeds office. I support two Partners, and the rest of the team with diary management, organising events, front of house, facilities management, and general admin to ensure the smooth running of the office. Before this, I was a PA at the Manchester office for nearly 17 years.

Richard Goldsack

I’ve spent 25 years advising entrepreneurs and private equity clients and am passionate about supporting growing businesses to build and realise value. I opened the Leeds office for Clearwater in 2020, and before that had been a Partner at EY and Grant Thornton, in Australia and the UK. In my spare time, I love spending time with my family, walking my dog Murphy in the Moors, playing football or golf and supporting Liverpool football club.

Chris Smith

I have been advising companies on raising debt finance for over 25 years. The first half of my career was spent as a lender in a bank and then I joined Clearwater as a Partner in 2009 to set up the debt advisory team. I spend my time working with both private equity-backed and owner-managed businesses across all sectors, with a key focus on the mid-market in the UK.

Bruce Weir

As COO of Clearwater, I bring over 25 years of experience in finance and operational leadership roles, with a focus on building high-performance teams, systems, and processes to enable as well as drive growth, alongside setting and implementing strategic direction. At Clearwater, I will be working alongside all my international colleagues driving improvements and building value across the business. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and have subsequently worked as a CFO and COO at a variety of international financial services firms across the advisory and private equity sectors. I graduated from Nottingham University with a BA in Economics.

Ken Williamson

I am Chairman of Clearwater in the UK, moving into this role in 2020 following 15 months as a non-exec member of the Board. As a Clearwater client, as a counterparty in a deal and now as a colleague, I have seen first-hand the way Clearwater lives through its values of being adaptable, committed and personable and I believe these will become even more important as we support our clients to tackle the challenges and also the great opportunities in front of them. My corporate finance career spans around 25 years and has provided opportunities to work both nationally and internationally, including appointments which took me from Newcastle, to Prague, to Melbourne then Manchester and London. I began my career with PwC and then joined EY and was a Partner for 17 years, where I was most active in the private equity arena and became Head of the firm’s UK and Ireland corporate finance business, representing corporate finance on EY’s Transactions Board. I have enjoyed a range of Board appointments including CFO, Chairman and M&A/Integration roles on a number of private company Boards, where investors have included Montagu, LGV, Wellspring, Endless, NorthEdge & Tosca.
