John Devine

As an Associate Director in the Dublin office, I have been involved in deals spanning a wide range of sectors including food and beverage, TMT, energy & utilities, and business services. I work on M&A deals and private equity transactions advising on all stages from coverage and origination through to execution and completion. I joined Clearwater International in 2017 with previous experience in corporate finance and restructuring with Deloitte. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from University College Dublin, graduating with first class honours. The most enjoyable part about what I do is the opportunity to work closely with clients across a wide range of sectors and with various strategic objectives. The tailored, client-focused, hands-on approach adopted by our team to each transaction ensures a strong relationship with every client, and I find this incredibly rewarding and satisfying.

John Haygarth

I’m an Associate Director, based in the Leeds office. I joined Clearwater in 2021 as part of the Business Services sector team and have worked in M&A since 2017, advising clients on a wide range of transactions involving private equity and strategic trade acquirers across both buy-side and sell-side. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, running around after my two young children and walking the dog. I’m also a big sports fan and enjoy watching Liverpool when the time allows.

John Sheridan

I am the Managing Partner of Clearwater International’s Irish business. As founders of this business, John Curtin and I joined up with Clearwater in October 2015 having traded as a boutique brand known as Core Corporate Finance over the previous year. Prior to this, I was Managing Director at Key Capital Corporate Finance in Dublin, where I worked for eight years. I have 21 years’ experience as a corporate finance professional having originally qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in 1997. At Clearwater, I lead our food & beverage team internationally. Our team in Ireland covers all sectors with a particular focus on food & beverage, TMT, industrials & chemicals and business services. The deals I am most proud of are the sale of IT services business, Version1, where we advised the shareholders on the company’s sale to private equity firm, Volpi Capital in a €90m MBO, followed recently by the sale of telecommunications engineering business, KN Group to French-based Circet. Since joining Clearwater, I try to lead by example and inspire our team to drive for excellence and high performance in everything we do. The strong results-oriented and personalised culture of our firm helps both retain and attract great talent. I enjoy working with highly ambitious entrepreneurs who are looking to develop their business internationally and use my experience gained over the past 21 years in navigating the optimal M&A process to help achieve their goals. I have completed eleven transactions over the past three years at Clearwater with a combined deal value of c. €1bn.

John Curtin

I am a Partner in Clearwater International having co-founded the Irish business, previously Core Corporate Finance. We successfully merged with Clearwater in October 2015 to provide our clients with unique access to global M&A opportunities and financing solutions as well as strengthening our sectoral expertise. I have over 16 years’ experience in corporate finance having worked in Ireland, the Middle East and the US. I was previously Managing Director of Key Capital Bahrain and qualified as a Chartered Accountant at Deloitte.
My core expertise is focused on leading M&A, disposals, management buy-outs, corporate fundraisings and capital restructurings. I have completed transactions across various key sectors including industrials, business services, technology, healthcare, food, energy & utilities, financial services and real estate. My recent transaction highlights, with an aggregate value in excess of €1.4bn, includes the significant investment by Susquehanna Growth Equity in Poppulo, a pioneering global internal communications software company; the cross border merger of KN Group with French-based Circet to create a market leader in European telecommunications services, backed by Advent International; the management buyout of H&MV Engineering, a specialist international high voltage electrical contracting company; and the sale of Brightwater Recruitment, Ireland’s leading independent recruitment firm. As owners of our business, we are persistent and passionate about what we do and our aim is to work with ambitious, like minded clients to help develop their own corporate strategies and realise capital value. I enjoy leading and motivating our high-performing team to deliver the best possible outcome for our clients
