Phil Burns

I am Chair & Co-Founder at Clearwater responsible for overall leadership and strategy. I led the creation of the UK business, which we founded in 2003. We set up Clearwater because we saw the need for quality independent advice, delivered from a business with scale and a focus on excellent client outcomes. My career has spanned restructuring, banking, and corporate finance. I have worked on all kinds of deals - IPO's, Private Equity, cross border exits, carve-outs and have been advising clients for over 30 years, My favourite transactions are when we put entrepreneurs and private equity together, which I must have done more than 100 times by now.

Mohammed Sohail

As the Head of IT, I am responsible for supporting all UK staff as well as managing the continued development of an innovative, robust, and secure information technology environment throughout Clearwater. I work closely with all the Clearwater teams and IT solutions partners to ensure we make the most of the technology hardware and software solutions as well as being an early adopter of new technologies. I joined Clearwater in August 2011 and have over 30 years of experience managing IT systems, having previously worked for a large mechanical and electrical engineering firm. I have a BSc degree in Computer Science obtained from Manchester Victoria University.

Rob Britton

I was a founding member of Clearwater in 2003. We saw the need for a solution-driven, adaptable approach to delivering M&A services to growing entrepreneurial businesses. My 30+ year career has spanned banking and corporate finance. As a Partner in the Clearwater Industrials & Chemicals sector team and Growth team, I have advised on over c.65 deals of all kinds. Having the opportunity to work with interesting people and businesses across a range of sub-sectors, with a focus on the client at the heart of everything we do is what makes the job exciting. There is nothing more satisfying than helping a business owner through the challenges and rigours of a transaction on a day-to-day basis and then delivering the most successful outcome for them.

Ralph Schmücking

As one of the co-founders of Clearwater Germany and "co-architect" of the international Clearwater Group, I am now primarily the contact person for succession solutions and growth projects for German-speaking SMEs. Thanks to more than 30 years of trustful cooperation with company owners, corporates, private equity investors and family offices, I have a deep understanding beyond M&A-related issues. Credibility, commitment, and the drive to achieve goals are the key feedback from the clients we advise. 

Before co-founding Clearwater Germany in 2000, I worked as VP M&A in a former DAX30 company and as co-founder of the German M&A business of a Big4 audit firm.

In my private life, family, traveling, various sports activities and social projects provide a healthy balance.
