Clearwater International advises Bridge Farm Group on its cross-border sale to Sundial Growers Inc

Clearwater International has advised Bridge Farm Group (Bridge Farm), one of the UK’s leading growers of ornamental plants, flowers and herbs, on its sale to Canadian Sundial Growers Inc. (Sundial).

Established over 30 years ago, Bridge Farm, which includes the Neame Lea and Zyon brands within its portfolio, specialises in growing ornamental plants, flowers and herbs. The company has a workforce of over 500 employees at peak times across five locations, and sells more than 80 million units per year to retailers.

Consumers are increasingly looking for branded high-quality CBD products they can trust, so this transaction will enable Bridge Farm to extend its expertise in growing high quality plants to produce premium, safe CBD-based wellness products and supplements.

Bridge Farm operates at the leading edge of environmental production. Both organisations share the same culture, which is to be expert growers of high-quality plants grown in a sustainable way. Bringing this expertise and environmental credentials together for CBD consumers has the potential to open up significant opportunity and growth for the business. The transaction will enable Bridge Farm to invest behind that opportunity, with the support of an experienced partner such as Sundial.

Sundial Growers Inc. is based in Alberta and was established in 2014. It is a licensed cannabis producer and manufacturer of high-quality cannabidiol (CBD) based products for the wellness and health supplement market. The sale will see Sundial use part of the facilities at its site in Spalding to cultivate hemp for the production of CBD, subject to regulatory approval. Since the transaction completed, Sundial has applied to have its shares listed on Nasdaq.
