Clearwater International’s Richard Ellis takes home Young Dealmaker of the Year

Clearwater International’s Associate Director Richard Ellis picked up the award for Young Dealmaker of the Year at the Insider East Midlands Dealmakers Awards. Richard is credited with excellence at actively seeking out deal opportunities as well as being dedicated to providing excellent support, advice, and care for successful deal completions.

Since joining Clearwater Richard has been instrumental in a number of high profile deals including the sale of Union Square to Deltek; the sale of Sidhil Ltd to Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare; the sale of Bridgepoint-backed Evander to VPS and the cross-border sale of Countrywide Supplies to Atos Medical. He also led the deal advising e-days on its investment from Palatine Impact, advised GRS Roadstone on raising a c. €70m (£61m) funding package to support its acquisition of S. Walsh Holdings and continued growth; and advised Retail Assist on its MBO with investment from Foresight Group and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Peter Senior of E-days complimented Richard: “His dedication and willingness to handle any aspect of the transaction and see it through was extremely helpful, with work being delivered to an excellent standard, efficiently and in a timely manner. This gave us the reassurance that the deal was in a safe pair of hands and that allowed us to carry on running the business despite the increased workload. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Richard throughout this process, many thanks for your professionalism, commitment and understanding!”

Phil Burns, UK Managing Partner, said: “Richard is thoroughly deserving of this award, having achieved an excellent result for clients on a number of deals and is a credit to Clearwater, reflecting our continued recruitment of high calibre individuals to drive the business forward.”

Clearwater was also shortlisted for Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year and SME Deal of the Year for the aforementioned deals advising E-days on its investment from Palatine Impact and Retail Assist on its MBO with investment from Foresight Group and Royal Bank of Scotland.

In the case of Deal of the Year, Clearwater was nominated for the second year running, on the back of deals including advising Jigsaw24, the UK’s largest Apple Reseller, on the secondary management buyout and also LCD on its acquisition of Ensek. Being shortlisted for a second year running demonstrates Clearwater’s consistently high performance.
