Clearwater International advises Tradera on its rights issue and minority sale to Ceder Capital
Clearwater International has advised the owners of Tradera, Sweden’s largest circular marketplace, on its rights issue and minority sale to Ceder Capital.
Tradera was founded in 1999 and is the largest marketplace in Sweden focused on second-hand and used products. The company’s vision is to be a leading player in the transition to a circular economy. In Q4 2021, Tradera’s current management team performed an MBO from its previous owner PayPal. In 2021, 11.6m pre-owned products were sold in the digital marketplace, corresponding to a GMV of €246m (SEK 2.7bn). Today, Tradera currently operates in Sweden and has recently launched in Denmark.
During this transaction, Ceder Capital acquired a minority stake and subscribed to all new shares in the rights issue. Tradera’s management team will remain as majority owners, in their operative roles. The new partnership will accelerate Tradera’s growth journey with increased financial strength and additional competence.
