Clearwater International advises NAKED Copenhagen on its sale to Courir

Clearwater International has advised NAKED Copenhagen, a leading international women’s specific sneaker supplier, on its sale to sportswear retailer Groupe Courir.

Since its foundation in 2004 by Stine Lindholm Pedersen and Tommas Olsen, NAKED Copenhagen has grown to be one of the world’s leading women’s specific sneaker suppliers.

NAKED Copenhagen focuses solely on catering to and meeting the unique needs of female consumers and has successfully built an online female universe with a large and trendsetting community on social media.

The Company follows an omni-channel strategy and currently has three stores in Denmark and a successful international e-commerce channel generating 80% of sales.

NAKED Copenhagen collaborates with all the major brands such as Nike and Adidas and is uniquely positioned as a top tier retailer with access to special release products.

While NAKED Copenhagen specialises in top-tier releases, it carries a wide selection of classic sneakers, apparel, and accessories as well.

Founded in 1980 as a sportswear retailer, Groupe Courir has in recent years become the number one sports footwear specialist in France with a market positioning focusing on women’s and girl’s fashion. Groupe Courir operates a large network of stores in the fast-growing sneaker market, with 280+ stores across France and 320 across Europe as a whole.

Groupe Courir has been backed by Equistone since 2019, a mid-market private equity firm operating across Benelux, France, Germany, Switzerland, and the UK.

NAKED Copenhagen and Groupe Courir will join forces to strengthen the sneaker category for women all over the globe. NAKED Copenhagen will continue under its own brand and the partnership with Groupe Courir will enable NAKED Copenhagen to accelerate its growth and international roll-out plans in the coming years. As the first step in the expansion, NAKED Copenhagen is launching a store in Paris.
