Clearwater International has advised Platinum Equity on its acquisition of a majority stake in De Wave Group

Clearwater International, has advised investment firm Platinum Equity on its acquisition of a majority stake in De Wave Group from Xenon Private Equity.

Platinum Equity, founded in 1995, is an investment firm which specialises in mergers, acquisitions and operations in companies that provide mission-critical products, services, and solutions in diverse industries. The investments have resulted in over 250 acquisitions globally over the past 25 years.

De Wave Group, based in Genoa, Italy, has 60 years of experience in the production and preparation of cruise ship interiors and refit services to ship builders and cruise operators. De Wave Group, subsidiaries Precetti and Spencer, operate facilities in Italy, Poland, Singapore and US, with vertically integrated production lines that allow full control throughout the product development process.

Platinum Equity will support De Wave Group in its long-term expansion project, through both organic growth and acquisitions. The main focus will be widening the product portfolio and offering services with higher added value.

For Platinum Equity this is the first equity transaction in Italy, confirming the firm’s increasing momentum in Europe. The top management of De Wave Group will support the investors with a minority stake.

Clearwater International also provided its debt advisory support to Platinum Equity, advising the fund on the structuring of financing for the acquisition. The transaction was financed by a pool of banks composed of MPS Capital Service, UBI Banca, Banca IFIS and Banco BPM.
