Clearwater International advises Nathura on its sale to Giuliani

Clearwater International has advised the shareholders of Nathura, an Italian market leader with a share of over 20% in the laxative fiber segment, on its sale to Giuliani, an Italian pharmaceutical company.

Nathura, founded in 1992 in Montecchio Emilia (Reggio Emilia), is leader in the formulation and distribution of psyllium and melatonin-based food supplements. Its focused product portfolio, promoted through scientific medical information and characterised by high effectiveness, is aimed at helping people to improve their level of well-being concerning disorders related to the gastrointestinal area, relaxation and sleep and dermatological repair. As of today, Nathura includes among its products, brands such as Psyllogel, Armonia, Celegyn and Celevis. The company closed 2020 with a turnover of approximately €15m and an EBITDA Margin above 30%.

Giuliani, with over 130 years of experience, is a reference company for research in the gastroenterological, trichological and dermatological areas and its product portfolio consists of brands such as Bioscalin, Trosyd, Lichtena and the historic Amaro Giuliani.

Thanks to the transaction, Nathura will provide Giuliani a significant expansion opportunity in the medical environment supported by its products’ prescriptive vocation as well as important skills and professionalism that will contribute to Giuliani’s synergic and complementary medical-scientific areas. Furthermore, Nathura will benefit from both Giuliani’s R&D consolidated activities and access to the capillary network of pharmacies served directly by Giuliani.
