Clearwater International advises Jakobsens on its sale to Good Food Group

Clearwater International has advised Jakobsens A/S, a market leading Scandinavian producer of branded honey and syrup products, on its sale to Good Food Group A/S, backed by private equity firm Maj Invest Equity.

Jakobsen is the largest producer of honey and syrup-based products in Denmark. The company offers a large assortment of conventional, organic and fairtrade honey as well as agave syrup for retail, catering, and the industry. Recently, Jakobsens introduced two new product categories - sweets and dressings. All products are renowned to be natural, of high-quality and free of artificial aromas, dyes, sweeteners, and preservatives. The products are sold primarily in Scandinavia, but in recent years exports have begun to several European countries as well as China. The company has shown impressive growth since 2012 driven by market share capture, product development and geographical expansion.

Good Food Group, acquired by private equity firm Maj Invest Equity in 2019, produces a wide range of food products, including jam, sauces, dressings, oats, nuts, dried fruits, as well as seeds and cereal products - both under own brands including Svansø and Skælskør Frugtplantage and private label for retail, food service and the industry.

The acquisition of Jakobsens is part of Good Food Group’s new strategy, which seeks to bring natural, Nordic food to consumers in the Nordic region and the rest of the world.
