Markus Otto

I am responsible for the industrial and chemical sector for the German-speaking region and, as one of the founding partners, I am responsible for generating M&A mandates between Europe, the US, and Asia. Family businesses, corporations and private equity companies are my regular clients, for whom we as a team use our experience and (sub-sector) knowledge to identify customised and best possible solutions. My administrative responsibilities include HR and organisation in Frankfurt and Munich. Before joining Clearwater Germany as a founding member, I worked for Arthur Andersen in auditing and transaction services, where my professional career began in 1996. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors and I am a passionate horse rider, share this hobby with my daughter and, in addition, I get my strength and balance for the week from walks with our Great Dane.

Marco Morfino

Con una laurea in Ingegneria delle tecnologie industriali e una carriera nella consulenza direzionale iniziata di Jmac ho affinato le mie competenze nel settore in Arthur D Little. La mia specializzazione in Supply Chain e Operations mi ha preparato per ruoli dirigenziali e imprenditoriali di successo, soprattutto nel dinamico settore TMT. Questo percorso mi ha portato a guidare operazioni di rilievo su scala internazionale, contribuendo al progresso e alla trasformazione del panorama industriale. Insegno IT for Company Networks presso SUPSI, nell'ambito del corso di laurea in Ingegneria Gestionale. Nel settembre 2022 mi sono unito al team di Clearwater.

Francesco Perrini

Laurent Camilli

As a founding Partner of Clearwater France, I lead the international real estate team and the healthcare sector in France. Since the inception of the company I have completed over 80 transactions with clients who return to us time and time again, and not only rely on Clearwater for sound M&A advice, but trust us to take care of all their corporate issues. In line with the values of Clearwater, I’m very considerate of the needs of my clients, their targets and their environment in order to find solutions which exceed their expectations. I started my career at Vivendi (formerly Generale des Eaux) before setting up an advisory company (Auxiliaire de Finance) where I advised anglo-saxon funds in acquisitions of non-performing loan portfolios. I went on to join Close Brothers and developed the company as a MD and CEO. In 10 years, Close Brothers became a major player in the mid-market M&A segment with strong exposure in leisure, healthcare and real estate.

Christopher Jones

I have spent the last 20 years of my career as a mid-market M&A adviser focused on the consumer sector. I started my career at EY, following which I spent nearly two decades at Arrowpoint/Rothschild, GCA Altium, and Houlihan Lokey. I lead Clearwater’s London team, and also the Consumer sector team across the UK and Europe. Within consumer, my focus is on travel and leisure as well as digital consumer and e-commerce.

Andrea Pagliara

Ho trascorso l'intera carriera nel settore dell'M&A, iniziando nel 2004 a lavorare per una piccola boutique M&A, facente parte holding di investimento. Attualmente ricopro il ruolo di Managing Partner in Clearwater, dopo aver fondato, nel 2017, la branch Italiana insieme ai miei soci.

John Sheridan

I am the Managing Partner of Clearwater International’s Irish business. As founders of this business, John Curtin and I joined up with Clearwater in October 2015 having traded as a boutique brand known as Core Corporate Finance over the previous year. Prior to this, I was Managing Director at Key Capital Corporate Finance in Dublin, where I worked for eight years. I have 21 years’ experience as a corporate finance professional having originally qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in 1997. At Clearwater, I lead our food & beverage team internationally. Our team in Ireland covers all sectors with a particular focus on food & beverage, TMT, industrials & chemicals and business services. The deals I am most proud of are the sale of IT services business, Version1, where we advised the shareholders on the company’s sale to private equity firm, Volpi Capital in a €90m MBO, followed recently by the sale of telecommunications engineering business, KN Group to French-based Circet. Since joining Clearwater, I try to lead by example and inspire our team to drive for excellence and high performance in everything we do. The strong results-oriented and personalised culture of our firm helps both retain and attract great talent. I enjoy working with highly ambitious entrepreneurs who are looking to develop their business internationally and use my experience gained over the past 21 years in navigating the optimal M&A process to help achieve their goals. I have completed eleven transactions over the past three years at Clearwater with a combined deal value of c. €1bn.

Emmanuel Xerri

I founded the Clearwater team in Marseilles over 20 years ago. The Mediterranean region has many up-and-coming businesses which we are ideally placed to advise given our close proximity. I started my career in the corporate finance department of PwC and then joined EY. Following this I co-developed the activities of Edmond de Rothschild in Marseille for five years. Over the years, I have supported small and medium-sized companies that have sometimes become large corporations. The diversity of the transactions I have advised on makes me a generalist, or rather a multi-specialist across various sectors including business services, healthcare, industrials, specialised distribution, and TMT. More recently, I advised on the various build-up operations as well as the primary and secondary LBOs of the Cogepart Group, the French leader in last mile delivery. I also advised Hôpital Privée La Casamance on the merger with the Almaviva group and the entry of FrenchFood Capital into Markal, a major player in the organic food sector. Today, Clearwater International is ideally positioned to accompany clients through the increasingly rapid changes in the market, remaining adaptable and utilising our sector specialists in both our French and international teams to meet client goals.

Tobias Schätzmüller

As one of the co-founders of the German Clearwater office, I lead our international Automotive & Mobility sector team as a Partner. I have always been fascinated by the mobility sector due to its innovative capacity and constant technological change. We realise significant, usually cross-border M&A transactions in all (automotive) mobility sub-segments for family businesses, corporations and private equity investors. I am also responsible for the Financial Services division in the DACH region. I started my corporate finance career in 2000 at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, before co-founding Clearwater. Besides the mobility industry, I am passionate about progressive rock, and Bayern Munich and I love spending time with my wife and our three children.

Dr. Heinrich Kerstien

Together with my partner and colleague Dierk Rottmann, I co-head the debt advisory business in the German-speaking region. We advise medium-sized companies and groups on a variety of financing issues and accompany them throughout the transaction process. In addition, I am co-responsible for our private equity activities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. We maintain very close, trusting and long-standing relationships with private equity firms. Before joining Clearwater, I was co-head of the European debt advisory business at Rothschild and held various senior positions in the leveraged finance team at Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt and London. I play drums, am a fan of contemporary art and fine dining and enjoy travelling - be it on the motorbike through Central America or to the Austrian mountains for cold training.
