Getinge-owned Maquet acquires 100% of Cetrea for €12m

Cetrea is the leading supplier of healthcare-IT within clinical logistics and patient flow management; with customers at more than 70 departments in 21 hospitals in Denmark, as well as hospitals in Sweden and Finland. Via the use of advanced pervasive computing technologies, the patient flow management system handles any logistical flows in and around the hospital and across any department, thereby securing a real-time overview of clinical work and location of personnel, direct and immediate communication and coordination anywhere and any time. The solutions, available as both departmental specific as well as hospital-wide, are based on the latest concepts, technologies and hardware, such as access to Real Time Information, Push-messaging technology and Indoor Tracking technology.

Cetrea was founded in 2006 by a group of computer scientists from the University of Aarhus; based on a research project completed with the Hospital of Horsens in Denmark. Cetrea and its products have been awarded several prizes, including the Red Herring Global Top 100 Winner (2011). Maquet is a global leader within medical systems and offers innovative therapy solutions and infrastructure capabilities for high-acuity areas within the hospital – e.g. operating rooms, intensive care units and patient transport. Maquet is the largest subsidiary of the publicly listed Getinge Group AB of Sweden.

The transaction gives Cetrea access to a strong partner with a diverse international sales network, which can take the clinical logistics solutions worldwide, while at the same time strengthening the IT-platform of Getinge and Maquet.

Clearwater International acted as exclusive financial adviser to the owners of Cetrea in a structured sales process with several international buyers.
