Clearwater International advises AV-Cables on its sale to Kjell & Company

Clearwater International has advised the owner of AV-Cables, a Danish high growth e-commerce company with a niche focus on audio/video cables and electronic accessories, on the majority sale to Swedish consumer electronics giant Kjell & Company.

AV-Cables, founded in 2006 by Christian Damgaard Møller, initially started out offering only audio/video cables, but an innovative mindset and a strong focus on customer electronics trends has turned AV-Cables into a leading one-stop-shop for electronic accessories. The 2020 financial year reports showed more than €27m (DKK 200m) turnover and around €4m (DKK 30m) in operating profits.

Kjell & Company, backed by the Dahnelius family and the private equity fund FSN, is a leading Swedish detail concept with more than 30 years of experience within consumer electronics and a €197m (SEK 2bn) turnover in 2020 and 129 service points in Sweden and Norway.

There are strong synergies between the businesses including the high flexibility that AV-Cables offers with 24 hours delivery to its more than 500.000 unique costumers, the AV-Cables product portfolio of more than 23,000 electronic accessories as well as Kjell & Company’s more than 10,000 products, and the synergetic benefits of the large knowhow that Kjell & Company has derived from the physical sales points in both Sweden and Norway.
