Clearwater International advises Rigamonti on the acquisition of Brianza Salumi

Clearwater International has advised Italian meat producer Rigamonti, part of the global JBS group, on the acquisition of Brianza Salumi, a producer and distributor of low-salt cured meats.

Brianza Salumi was founded in 1978 by the Vismara family and is based in Sirone (LC), Italy. The company specialises in the production and distribution of organic and low-salt cured ham.

Rigamonti, founded in 1913 and based in Montagna in Valtellina (SO), Italy, is global leader in the production of bresaola, with a market share of 34% (bresaola IGP) in Italy, turnover of €130m in 2018 (+4.5% vs. 2017) and 7.685 tons produced last year. The company exports to 23 countries, with 9% of exports distributed in Europe.

Rigamonti is part of the Brazilian listed group JBS, the largest meat processor in the world. With a market cap. of €18bn and turnover of €40bn in 2018, the group has more than 400 production units employing over 250,000 members of staff. JBS operates in 22 countries, serving more than 350,000 customers in over 150 nations through owned brands such as Swift, Friboi, Seara, Maturatta, Plumrose, Pilgrim's Pride, Gold'n Plump, Gold Kist Farms, Pierce, 1855, Primo and Beehive.

Clearwater International supports Rigamonti with its ambitions of creating a leading group in the cured meat market, with turnover of approximately €300m.
