Aubert Simonnot

I joined Clearwater in 2012 after initially working in corporate finance for HSBC in Paris and Shanghai, and graduating from EDHEC with a major in corporate finance. I am a Managing Director and have been involved in transactions across the healthcare, real estate and industrials & chemicals sectors. Since I joined Clearwater I have had the opportunity to work with interesting clients, and I find solving their problems and meeting their particular needs keeps the job endlessly exciting.

Julien Choppin

I am a Managing Director at Clearwater and have advised on many transactions across the consumer, real estate and business services sectors. In particular, I have worked on complex transactions with leading businesses offering them innovative solutions to meet their specific needs. Client satisfaction is my main objective in order to create long term relationships and repeat business. I joined Clearwater in 2010 after previous roles in M&A advisory at Close Brothers (DC Advisory) and in private equity within GMT Communication Partners in London. I graduated from IESEG with a major in Corporate Finance.

Axel Oltmann

As a member of the Clearwater Board, I represent the interests of the DACH region in our international group. I am responsible for the Consumer and Tech sectors in Germany and contribute my many years of experience in realising transactions to the management of these sectors. In close cooperation with our Debt Advisory activities, I also support the continuous expansion of our German-speaking private equity activities. I started my professional career at Arthur Andersen in Frankfurt and worked as an auditor for companies in various sectors. As a co-founder, I joined @VISORY partners in 2000, which merged with Clearwater at the beginning of 2016. In my private life, I enjoy travelling, riding my e-bike in the Rheingau region and spending time with my family.

Ralph Schmücking

As one of the co-founders of Clearwater Germany and "co-architect" of the international Clearwater Group, I am now primarily the contact person for succession solutions and growth projects for German-speaking SMEs. Thanks to more than 30 years of trustful cooperation with company owners, corporates, private equity investors and family offices, I have a deep understanding beyond M&A-related issues. Credibility, commitment, and the drive to achieve goals are the key feedback from the clients we advise. 

Before co-founding Clearwater Germany in 2000, I worked as VP M&A in a former DAX30 company and as co-founder of the German M&A business of a Big4 audit firm.

In my private life, family, traveling, various sports activities and social projects provide a healthy balance.

Stefan Sachsenhauser

As a member of the German management team, I am responsible for the Life Sciences & Healthcare sector in the DACH region. I support entrepreneurs and financial investors in the realisation of buy- and sell-side corporate transactions in the pharmaceutical, medical technology, health tech, and provider care sectors. Before joining Clearwater, I worked for KPMG and Ernst & Young in the area of Corporate Finance, Strategy and Transactions. In addition to my business degree, I am a certified accountant (IHK). As a passionate Bavarian and a true Munich native, I love the city and its enchanting Alpine foothills. I do a lot of sports in my spare time as a footballer, skier, and golfer. I also enjoy travelling to Italy, Spain, and Argentina.

Bertolt Mueller

As a member of the German management team, I am responsible for the Energy & Utilities division at Clearwater together with my partner colleague Dierk Rottmann. The energy industry has been a constant part of my career, during which I have been involved in a large number of transactions on both the buy and sell side, IPOs and capital increases. As the former Head of M&A of a listed energy company, I know first-hand the challenges of the energy transition. Before joining Clearwater, I worked for Dresdner Kleinwort, KPMG, and MVV Energie AG. I am not only an enthusiastic Vespa rider but also enjoy travelling around Frankfurt on my gravel bike and spending time with my wife and children.

Dierk Rottmann

In my role as Co-Head of our Debt Advisory activities in the DACH region, together with my partner Dr. Heinrich Kerstien, I am responsible for advising medium-sized companies on all corporate finance issues. We are proud that leading international companies such as Trumpf, ZEISS, Symrise, Wieland, Infraserv, and enercity as well as many others have trusted us for many years and repeatedly rely on our experience and the added value of our advisory expertise. Furthermore, as International Head of Energy & Utilities, I have been advising companies from the energy industry on all M&A and financing issues for many years. In 2000, I co-founded the corporate finance consultancy @VISORY partners, which merged with Clearwater in early 2016. Previously I worked for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Rothschild. I have an eye for design and detail and am an enthusiastic fan of turf sports - whether passively at Mainz05 or actively on the golf course.
