Clearwater International advises énergie Fitness shareholders on its sale to Bridges Fund Management Ltd

Clearwater International has advised the shareholders of énergie Fitness; the leading low-cost gym franchise business, on the investment by Bridges Fund Management Ltd (Bridges); a specialist private markets investor.

énergie Fitness is a leading fitness and wellness club brand, with a robust franchise model which fosters a greater emphasis on customer service, with gym owners encouraged to interact with members and get involved in their local community.

The investment from Bridges will help support the company’s growth plan and continue broadening access to quality health and fitness facilities. Bridges has significant experience in the low-cost gym sector. It introduced the concept to the UK in 2007, partnering with John Treharne to launch The Gym Group. Since then Bridges has also successfully invested in Impact Fitness, a Planet Fitness franchise in the US, and Viva Gym Group, the leading low-cost chain in Spain and Portugal.

The sale is Clearwater International’s fourth gym sector transaction, following the sale of Fitness Hut to Viva Gym in Portugal, the investment by BGF to Gymbox in the UK, and the sale of Exerp to Technogym in Denmark.
