Clearwater International supports Manchester Camerata in Digital Natives cyber safety community project

Clearwater International is taking part in the second of its volunteering projects with Manchester Camerata (Registered charity) on its Digital Natives project, working with a group of young people to create a music theatre piece which raises awareness of issues around the use of the internet.Members of the Clearwater team are working with the group to assist in rehearsals and the performances. This will involve giving the young people expert advice about the internet and digital technology and ensuring the performances run smoothly. Clearwater members include Director Michael Loudon and Associates James Kennedy and Mark Ward, all of which are based in the Manchester office. The Digital Natives project involves developing ideas with young people exploring internet safety issues, creating a dialogue between younger and older generations.During the workshops earlier this summer, the group researched the topic and worked with professional musicians and theatre makers to produce music and to stage a theatrical piece that showcases the positives and negatives of the internet. The performance is being toured at arts venues and care settings throughout August including the Tweedsmuir Sheltered Housing Scheme and Here & Now Parish Centre, Chester, on 3 August.Camerata is an innovative orchestra that helps to promote social change in its communities. It performs nationally and internationally, supporting schools and care settings throughout the UK, using music as a tool to improve quality of life. The orchestra is at the forefront of music-led dementia research, continuing its commitment to health and wellbeing, recently visiting Japan to share their unique approach to working with older people in care settings in Osaka. This follows a previous collaboration with Camerata when the Clearwater team supported local Midlands schools in Shakespearian performances at Stafford Gatehouse. This is a string of volunteering community projects that Clearwater is supporting as part of their sponsorship of Camerata, as well as two of its most innovative events the UpClose events – eclectic and experimental gigs often in unexpected venues, later on this year.
