Clearwater International advises Saint-Gobain on the disposal of International Decorative Surfaces to Chiltern Capital

Clearwater International has advised Saint-Gobain, on the disposal of International Decorative Surfaces (IDS), a UK distributor of decorative surfaces, to Chiltern Capital.

IDS employs 500 people and has 17 distribution hubs and makeover centres, generating a turnover of approximately €130m (£111m) in 2021. Its product mix includes laminate and compact, decorative panels, worktops, sinks and taps, solid surfaces, wall panelling and flooring.

Completion of this divestment marks the exit of Saint-Gobain from all specialist UK distribution brands. This transaction is part of Saint-Gobain’s continued business profile optimisation strategy, consistent with the ‘Grow & Impact’ plan objectives.

This is the second time Clearwater International has worked with Saint-Gobain. During Q1 2022, the team advised Saint-Gobain on the disposal of Ceramic Tile Distributors to private equity firm AURELIUS.
